Everything But The Kitchen Sink 2023

Kitchen Sink is back for a second year of weird, feisty, boundary-pushing, and genre defying performing arts. This year's four shows are from a collection of Sydney's most exciting young artists...

Night 1
DazzaWritten & Performed by Frankie Fearce
In this close and intimate conversation with Dazza, the bar fly that haunts the smokers' area of your local pub, Frankie Fearce pulls apart toxic masculinity in a way only a regional queer that had to pretend they liked VB until they were 24 can.

Horse PlayCreated, Written, and Directed by Zoe Tomaras
Devised, Written, and Performed by Linda Chong, Angela Johnston, Natalie Noll, Sophea Op
Devised & Written by Georgia Drewe

Horse Play is a devised drag comedy exploring masculinity, comradeship, and... whatever else comes up when you're a dude squashed inside a wooden horse full of dudes.
We all know the mythology; a Greek army snuck into Troy inside the “peace offering” (lol) of a wooden horse, waited a bit, and then BAM — jumped out, did some stabby stabby, and won the war.
BUT do we know the answers to the most important questions?
How did they pass the time?
Wasn’t it at least a little bit (a lot) gay in there? Was Helen REALLY that hot?
These questions will (maybe) be answered through some drag, a female/enby lens, and a bit of silliness.
The Horse Play team would like to give special thanks to:
Georgia Drewe, who was an original deviser and performer for the first two developments of this production. Her contributions are still very much part of this show. Cheng Tang, for everything he has done for us as our OG tech wizard, our all-round helper, and our friend. PYT Fairfield, for their in-kind support of rehearsal space to assist in developing the show.

Night 2
Date and Time
Written & Performed by Albert Lin
Dates carry meaning. They carry memories and anniversaries and little glimpses into our lives.
Albert has written a poem every day since the 15th of February 2017. He’s kept a diary for almost as long. Come join a conversation about what dates mean to us, and see how the same day has as many faces as there are people.
Share a day that’s special to you. Listen to others’. There is a poem for every occasion, and a date.

ORIGIN STORY
Written by Eric Jiang
Directed by Dominique Purdue
Cast - Rachel Seeto & Jasper Lee-Lindsay
Robin and Sam are best friends from different worlds – she's a superhero, he's a schoolteacher. When they move in together, it's all fun and games until it's really not. Robin soon embarks on a journey against time to figure out what went wrong, and save their friendship, to change the story. Everyone is obsessed with the way things begin, the ORIGIN STORY of it all, but what if this is the story of how things end?

Please check 'nights' when booking tickets. And please come along for both.. simply choose the first date when you book and then email us with the second date and we'll book you in - kitchensinkfest@gmail.com
